Remember those home makeover shows where an entire family got their old house completely redesigned? The family had no idea, but you knew that the end results were going to be leaps and bounds better than you could ever imagine? That’s how it’s been here at Thinkific HQ waiting for our new look and feel to roll out for course creators!

We rang the gong more than a few times when the new design for course creators was released this month! It was a big undertaking by the team to make the Thinkific user interface for course creators clearer, more cohesive, intuitive, and aligned with the new Thinkific brand.

Now, nothing’s changed on the student side of things – your customers shouldn’t notice any changes at all. This is just for you Thinkific course creators!

We also released our gargantuan guide on creating and selling online courses this month, finished another deep dive into a Thinkific success story, and added a few more teammates to the Thinkific crew -and we’re still looking for more!

Now, let’s get down to the details of everything going on at Thinkific over August:

Introducing the New Thinkific (for Course Creators)

On August 28th, we officially launched a brand new look and feel for anyone using Thinkific to grow their online business. Keep in mind, this change has no effect on the student view of your course sites – it’s only for you course creators!

Why did Thinkific need a new look and feel?

This new design is our response to a growing issue we were experiencing here at Thinkific as we continue to build new features. Our original design was perfect for what we needed at the time but we had essentially outgrown it. As we began to serve course creators in more ways, it began to slow down the product development process.

Fading between the new and old user interface in Thinkific

Also, one of our core promises to Thinkific customers is that the platform is easy to use. A major part of achieving that hinges on consistency. We were finding inconsistencies more often, so we needed a bigger solution. We rebuilt the product on a new, more standardized design system to make developing new features faster, and using Thinkific make more sense.

What’s the benefit to Thinkific course creators?

We used a “content first” strategy in re-designing Thinkific. The goal was to put your Thinkific content and business milestones at the foreground of the design, and the tools you use to create that content behind it in a supporting role.

Showing the consistency across the new Thinkific UI

The new look and feel will make managing your online education business in Thinkific a breeze. Reports make more sense, your content is easier to locate on the page, and making the changes you want is more intuitive.

You’ll also find it easier to make changes on the go. There are completely new ways to use Thinkific from tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices.

Shape the Future of Thinkific

From the beginning, we sourced our ideas from own course creator’s feedback. We’ve got big plans for the future, so we’ll need more feedback as we go.

We would love to hear from you if you’re interested in joining one of our upcoming research sessions. You can get a preview of new features, designs, and more, and then help shape how we build Thinkific with your opinions.
