Learn what it’s like to work in the Vancouver tech industry

Get real life experience

Students have lunch with experienced members of our team and learn more about what their role entails, how their projects are organized, and what it’s like to work in the Vancouver tech industry!

Make connections

Meet and shadow members of our Product team in QA, engineering, and product management. It’s an opportunity to get 1:1 guidance and advice, and address any concerns you might have about entering the industry. At the end of each session, our Director of People and Culture will share tips and insight into the Vancouver tech job market.

“Early 2018 I talked to someone in the People and Culture department during a career info session. Back then I knew Thinkific is one of the top companies in Vancouver. Having attended a Learning Curve session further solidified my belief that this company is for real. The devs kept me up-to-date with latest software tech, coding practices and they told me more than what I needed to know”

Carol

I LOVE discussing tech trends, showing some good practices in the web development world and also trying to find the answers to student's questions. In the session I can go over a code review for a piece of code from a project the student did and provide feedback, answer questions, present best practices and talking with students about tech or their career.

My goal is to create a space for discussion about software development, the startup industry and career development. Software development can be overwhelming with all their nuances at first glance but at the end of the day, I want to answer your questions and help you find your way.

Ellie

I will introduce the role of a QA engineer to students by showing them the software QA process and techniques and various strategies that need to be taken to take care of the quality of the product. I'm involved in the software development process from the early stages of planning by writing test plans, test cases, and then executing tests when the product is developed to make sure all the bugs are fixed before the product is deployed into production.
